Sudan’s paramilitary forces kill 13 people in Darfur, mostly women and children, group says

The Rapid Support Forces executed 13 civilians including vulnerable groups, amid a siege in North Darfur's El-Fasher, as part of an ethnic cleansing campaign, according to medical and UN reports.

  • On Sunday, local medics reported the Rapid Support Forces executed thirteen Sudanese civilians, including five children, four women, and four elderly, in the Khazan Qolo area along the El-Fasher-Tawila road.
  • El-Fasher has been under siege since May, with the Rapid Support Forces imposing a total blockade last month amid fighting since April 2023 that killed over 20,000 people.
  • On Saturday, RSF shelled a hospital in el-Fasher, wounding a healthcare worker and six patients, and the UN human rights office documented at least 89 civilian killings this month including 16 "summarily executed" in el-Fasher and Abu Shouk displacement camp.
  • The Sudan Doctors Network said the attack is a full-fledged war crime and crime against humanity, urging the international community and UN Security Council to act against RSF leadership.
  • The wider war since April 2023 has killed more than 20,000 people and displaced 14 million, while research from US universities estimates the overall death toll at around 130,000.
