ESO representative Rasa Jodkienė tells LRT RADIJ that as many as 110 thousand customers across Lithuania are currently without electricity. She notes that the ESO website and call line have been disrupted, so they are asked to report dangerous situations to the general emergency number 112.
After a storm hit Lithuania on Saturday, 219,000 residents were still without electricity as of Sunday morning. At that time, firefighters had received more than 1,800 calls by late evening the previous day, but the number of calls continues to increase today.
Due to strong winds and heavy rains in Lithuania, 240 thousand residents of the country were without electricity on Saturday evening, and firefighters received over 1.2 thousand calls related to eliminating the effects of strong winds during the day. At that time, the General Assistance Center (GAC) received a record number of more than 11 thousand calls.
About 110,000 people in the country were without electricity on Saturday evening due to disruptions caused by adverse weather conditions, and firefighters say they received about 500 calls. A person died after a tree fell in the Anykščiai district.
