Work on Second Street begins

The Winthrop City Council at its regular March meeting approved the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds by a unanimous vote.
The project is roughly $9.4 million in cost. Sibley County will be participating at $3.4 million, the City of Winthrop will be using cash from reserves of about $1 million and $5,260,000 will be fininaced through the general obligation bonds.

It has been discussed for six months, but the time has come for the facelift to the Lafayette park to take place. Reports at the Lafayette City Council meeting on April 8 stated that the new playground equipment will arrive on May 1st. A crew is set to start unpacking and constructing the equipment as soon as May 2nd. The Lions will be doing ground work preparation before the equipment arrives.
