Vonette Mead and her husband Tim are co-owners and founders of Mead Con, a building and construction company that often takes on council and other large-scale projects. Ms Mead, who is running in the north-west seat of Braddon at this Saturday's state election, is also the deputy mayor of the Latrobe council. In 2020 the council received $4 million from the federal government to redevelop Port Sorell's Camp Banksia and Banksia Centre facilities. It's understood Ms Mead was involved throughout this process, and like other councillors, had access to documents that wouldn't be available to tendering companies. The tender was eventually awarded to the Tasmanian-based company AJR.See the Story
