Tornado · DavisOn April 27, a tornado touched down south of Veterans Lake in Chickasaw National Recreation Area. It traveled northeast for 1.4 miles and was .5 miles wide. Most trees in the tornado’s path were uprooted or had their canopies sheared off. Very few were left unscathed.

One weatherman described the EF-3 tornado that devastated Sulphur on Saturday night as a “nocturnal nightmare.” A Sulphur woman lost her life and 30 residents sustained injuries. As of Monday, officials at the Expo Center said that 75 homes sustained damage and around 800 homes were without electricity. Almost all of the businesses in the downtown area sustained damage or were demolished by the storm.

Coffey, of Spring, OK., was named to the position at the 2024 Cattle Industry Convention in Orlando, Fla., Jan. 30, 2024. Preslee Hunt qualified for the Class 3A State Golf Tournament with her round of 96 at Regionals held April 24 at the Arrowhead State Park in Canadian. The Davis sophomore competed at State, a two-day, 36-hole meet April 29-30 at the Lincoln Park East Course in Oklahoma City.

The Davis baseball team tripped up Comanche last week on Senior Night then swept Colbert at home in a best two-out-of-three series to win the Class 2A District crown. It marks the third straight season the Wolves have won such a postseason title.
Davis was back-to-back Bi-District champions in 2022 and 2023 as a member of Class 3A.

Twelve members of the Davis track teams qualified for State on April 29 at the Class 2A Regionals held in Alex. The meet, originally set for the weekend, was rescheduled due to all the tornado warnings for the area.
The Lady Wolves ended fourth among the 24-school field. Davis recorded 61 points.
Kensley Barnes registered the only first-place finish for the squad. The junior won the 300-meter hurdles in 48.84.

Davis’s boys’ golf team played in a 36-hole, two-course tournament in Ardmore on April 15. They, along with the Lady Wolves then placed high enough in their respective Qualifiers to advance to the Class 3A Regionals.
The Wolves played 18 holes each at Lakeview and Dornick Hills and finished 18th in the tourney out of 24 teams with 776. Brendyn Pierce tied for 12th at 154.

The Davis track teams both took second at the Quad County Conference Meet held April 17 at Wynnewood. Both squads then hosted a meet April 19 at the Davis Track Field that featured 29 schools.
