Zellers Coming Back to Windsor’s Tecumseh Mall
The retailer is adding 2 Ontario stores after its Edmonton relaunch exceeded expectations and reinforced demand for the revived brand, company officials said.
Canadian retailer Zellers will open a new store on Orfus Road in Toronto on June 18, followed by a second Ontario location at Tecumseh Mall in Windsor in July.
Following a successful 2025 relaunch in Edmonton, the expansion builds on Quebec-based retailer Les Ailes de la Mode Inc.'s acquisition of the brand from Hudson's Bay Company Inc. after its dissolution.
Chief Operating Officer Joey Benitah is adding toys and specialty foods after customer feedback showed toys were among the highest sellers during the Edmonton launch. "We had a very small, limited selection of toys when we opened Londonderry, and they were among our highest sellers," he said.
Europro's Windsor Properties officials welcomed the brand's return to Tecumseh Mall, calling it a "great new chapter," while the new Toronto location will occupy a 25,000-square-foot standalone building near Yorkdale Mall.
Active negotiations are underway for new leases in Brampton, Scarborough, Calgary, Vancouver, and Ottawa, with the retailer expecting to announce additional locations over the coming year as it pursues coast-to-coast expansion.
