Yukon delegation showcases northern innovation at Web Summit Vancouver
The delegation includes eight startups and more than 35,000 founders, investors and innovators are expected at the conference, officials said.
Eight Yukon startups are attending Web Summit Vancouver from May 11 to 14 to connect with industry leaders and potential investors. The delegation includes Bizont Inc., Alpha EL Inc., Altitude Heritage, Resource Protection Canada, Apprendo, DeltaVue, Fireweed AI, and PeerSupport.io.
This is the second year of Web Summit Vancouver, which replaced the Toronto-based Collision Conference. The event brings together more than 35,000 founders and investors; Tech Yukon selected participants based on development stage and growth potential.
Bizont recently introduced Interlay, a tool that removes sensitive information before it reaches AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, and Copilot. The company stated this helps organizations manage privacy risks as these automated tools spread rapidly.
Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture Jen Gehmair met with entrepreneurs before their departure to discuss demonstrating the territory's innovative spirit. The Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency provided Bizont with up to $99,999 in funding support.
Past Yukon attendees have achieved significant success, including HyperYou's acquisition by Motorola and new contracts for Apprendo during a Team Canada mission to Mexico. These outcomes demonstrate the territory's ability to solve unique challenges for creators and innovators.
