Young Sheldon’s Iain Armitage Explains Why He Was ‘Most Happy’ About Show Ending Amid Cast Tension
Armitage says the sitcom ended at the right time as writers weighed Sheldon’s college move and George Sr.’s death, the new book says.
In Jessica Radloff's new book, Young Sheldon: The Inside Story of the Hit Comedy, actor Iain Armitage revealed he was "the most happy" about the CBS sitcom ending in 2024.
After seven seasons playing young Sheldon Cooper, Armitage felt the show reached its natural conclusion, admitting he would "hate to be on a show playing 23-year-old Sheldon."
Unlike some co-stars who struggled with the conclusion, Armitage explained he wasn't "going home and crying all day," noting it felt "heavy and annoying and weird" to remain in mourning.
Armitage declined an offer to appear in the spinoff, Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage, to pursue other opportunities; his mother, Lee Armitage, explained he prioritized traveling and new roles in Virginia.
Although he admits feeling "nostalgic sad" reflecting on his time at Warner Bros., the 18-year-old actor remains focused on his future, crediting his mother for teaching him that "nothing good can last and everything changes.
