Young heavyweight Moses Itauma set for 'litmus test' against Filip Hrgovic of Croatia
The winner is likely to earn a title shot as the first- and second-ranked WBO heavyweights meet in a major test.
Rising heavyweight Moses Itauma will face Filip Hrgovic at The 02 in London on Aug 29th, Queensberry Promotions confirmed.
Promoter Frank Warren said, "This has got all the makings of a classic heavyweight confrontation," noting the bout serves as the litmus test Moses is ready for.
Itauma and Hrgovic rank first and second in the WBO; the 34-year-old Hrgovic has tasted defeat just once as a pro, against Daniel Dubois in 2024.
Filip believes this fight is "too much too soon" for the young star, as Hrgovic brings significant experience from winning bronze at the 2016 Olympics.
Widely tipped to dominate the heavyweight division, Itauma is eying a future title shot and seeks to prove his readiness against this tough, experienced opponent.
The emerging heavyweight star Moses Itauma will face his toughest challenge when Croatian Filip Hrgovic is measured on August 29 in London, with a title fight likely at stake for the winner.
