1 Girl Dead, Another Critically Injured After Brooklyn Center Minibike Crash
Police say the driver stayed at the scene as investigators from two agencies examine the crash.
On Thursday, a vehicle struck a minibike at 63rd Avenue North and Brooklyn Drive in Brooklyn Center, killing one girl and leaving another in critical condition.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the deceased child as 6-year-old Dreme Damara Williams on Friday, while Brooklyn Center Commander Richard Gabler stated the two girls, aged 7 and 9, were riding eastbound when struck.
Brooklyn Center officers and Brooklyn Center Fire crews rendered medical aid, including CPR, at the scene before transporting both victims to North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.
Neighbor Chiquita Townsend said, "There's no stop signs down these streets right here," adding that cars often fly straight through and the tragedy was preventable.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigations led by the Brooklyn Center Police Department, the Minnesota State Patrol, and the Hennepin County Crime Lab.
