14-Year-Old Ohio Boy Dies After Being Shot While Riding Scooter
PORTAFERRY, COUNTY DOWN, NORTHERN IRELAND, JUL 9 – A 51-year-old man faces charges including causing death by dangerous driving after a hit-and-run crash killed a 12-year-old boy riding a scooter, police said.
A 51-year-old individual has been formally accused of causing death through dangerous driving, along with additional driving offences, following a hit-and-run incident in Portaferry on the evening of Tuesday, July 8.
The charges follow the fatal collision involving a young boy riding a scooter who was struck by a red Skoda Fabia in the Strand area of Portaferry.
The boy died from injuries sustained in the crash and a driver fled the scene before being arrested and charged by police.
The man is scheduled to attend Newtownards Magistrates' Court on the morning of Friday, July 11, with all charges undergoing a routine review by the Public Prosecution Service.
This case highlights ongoing enforcement of road safety laws in Co Down and may lead to further legal proceedings.
