4 Toronto teens charged in connection with more than 50 break-ins, 7 stolen vehicles recovered
Police say the suspects are linked to more than 50 break-ins and the recovery of seven stolen vehicles.
York Regional Police charged four Toronto youths following a months-long investigation into a luxury vehicle theft ring, recovering seven stolen cars linked to the group across York Region.
Investigators launched Project Howler after identifying a network responsible for more than 50 residential break-ins where suspects allegedly entered homes to steal keys for luxury vehicles parked in driveways and garages.
On Aug. 26, officers tracked a stolen vehicle from Richmond Hill to Toronto, conducting a coordinated takedown near Thorncliffe Park Drive and Overlea Boulevard where they arrested three youths after a brief foot pursuit.
The accused, ranging from 13 to 17 years old, face charges including trafficking property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of an automobile master key. Their identities remain protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Police confirmed the investigation remains active and investigators expect additional charges as they continue reviewing evidence. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
