WVU Issues Interim Suspension to Fraternity Following Allegations
The chapter is barred from social events, recruitment and university-sponsored programming while officials review multiple hazing allegations.
West Virginia University issued an interim suspension to Lambda Chi Alpha on Friday following "multiple reports" of hazing, effective immediately and barring all recruitment and university-sponsored programming.
This suspension follows a Campus Warning issued by WVU Police Tuesday regarding hazing at Lambda and Pi Kappa Alpha, though the Pi Kappa Alpha incident was determined to be unfounded.
Lambda faces violations of Section 6.2 of the WVU Main Campus Student Code of Conduct regarding hazing; members are prohibited from attending, organizing, or hosting social functions as a chapter.
The fraternity has five days to request a review and reconsideration of the sanctions, with the interim suspension remaining in effect until a formal hearing or disposition addresses the allegations.
Individuals with hazing information can contact the WVU Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities or WVU Police; Lambda previously received interim suspensions in 2023 and 2024 for underage drinking allegations.
