Oct 10 (Reuters) - The World Health Organization said on Saturday that Russia's state health regulator confirmed the death of a lab worker at a plague research facility in Siberia and had informed the WHO that no case of plague had been registered.
A worker at a plague research institute laboratory in Siberia fell ill and died on October 2, under unclear circumstances.
Russian authorities have informed the WHO that the plague was not detected in the deceased laboratory worker in the Irkutsk region, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Saturday. It emphasized that the cause of death remains unknown, and Russia has not confirmed any cases of plague infection.
