The second day of the Kenya Rally, the third round of the 2026 World Rally Championship, was marked by a chaos rarely seen in the history of modern rallying. The leading three Toyota drivers retired, and the lead was taken by Japanese Takamoto Katsuta, also a Toyota driver, who is expected to win the event for the first time on Sunday.
Sébastien Ogier, Oliver Solberg and Elfyn Evans, the three leaders, dropped in the third round of the world championship in Kenya.
Oliver Solberg was leading the Safari Rally halfway through the race when he was forced to break off the transport route due to car problems.
Swedish rally star Oliver Solberg (Toyota) led the Kenyan Rally Championship by more than half a minute until a flat tire on his car on the eighth stage reduced his lead to just one second. Estonian Robert Virves (Škoda) is having a great rally.
Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) is the first Japanese rider to win a WRC round since Kenjiro Shinozuka in 1992. He is ahead of Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai) and Sami Pajari (Toyota). Eleventh overall, Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) scored eight points this Sunday.
