White House: No Visa Issues for Iraq's World Cup Team
Officials said the Iraqi national team obtained U.S. visas after a false post about five players drew more than 1.1 million views.
Government officials and the Iraq Football Association confirmed that viral reports alleging the United States denied visas for five Iraq National Team players are false, as all players have obtained necessary approvals.
A viral post on X by Politics Global claimed the United States denied visas to five players, including Luton Town forward Ali Al-Hamadi, reaching more than 1.1 million views before officials refuted it.
The White House and The State Department refuted the claims in official statements, while the Iraq Football Association told The New Region, "The news is false, and the truth is that all the national team players have obtained entry visas to America."
Al-Hamadi remains on track to compete, recently posting images of himself playing for Iraq to his Instagram stories, with the team scheduled to play matches in Foxborough, Philadelphia, and Toronto.
These rumors surfaced amid ongoing debates regarding Iran's participation and ties to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, though FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed Iran will play in the tournament.
