Workers optimistic but overwhelmed by AI, study finds
- A 2025 study finds that 24% of SME owners have never used AI, while 29% view AI as a threat to their business and job security.
- This concern derives from limited understanding, distrust in AI for key decisions, and pressure to adopt AI due to competitors and social influences.
- Despite fears, 76% of SME owners express eagerness to learn about AI, and some, like 28-year-old travel consultant Yasmin Waters, use AI daily to support their business operations.
- Waters noted that AI is helpful for supporting background research and refining content details, but she emphasized that it should not take the place of human creativity or decision-making.
- The mixed attitudes suggest that while AI adoption grows, SME leaders emphasize responsible use and human oversight amid ongoing trust and knowledge challenges.
