Worker injured after falling at Nanaimo Cancer Centre construction site
Fire crews used a rescue bucket and crane to lower the worker, who fell about six feet and was taken to hospital.
- On Wednesday, Sept. 16, a construction worker sustained injuries after falling approximately six feet from a ladder onto metal rebar at the new Nanaimo Cancer Centre at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

- Fire crews utilized the construction crane and rescue bucket to lower the patient to the ground; MacKenzie said, "Tower cranes usually have a rescue basket, so we're able to bring him down pretty easily."
- Emergency responders transported the injured worker to the hospital for treatment, while temporary traffic closures on Dufferin Crescent near the site have since reopened.
