£100m rail maintenance depot under construction in Shipley

Construction is underway on a new TrainCare Centre in Shipley as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), with more than £100 million being invested in the facility. The depot will support the maintenance and storage of Northern’s electric train fleet serving the Airedale and Wharfedale lines.

The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) has this week welcomed Leader of Bradford Council, Susan Hinchcliffe, Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw and Councillor Liz Rowe to its Shipley site, where the programme is investing over £100m in the construction of a new TrainCare Centre.
