Woodside Energy Half-Year Report for Period Ended 30 June 2026
Underlying net profit rose to $US1.33 billion and the company lifted its interim dividend to 57 US cents while cutting $US5 billion in new-energy targets.
On Tuesday, Woodside Energy reported a 7% rise in first-half underlying net profit to $1.33 billion, increasing its interim dividend to 57 cents while abandoning $5 billion in planned clean energy spending by 2030.
CEO Liz Westcott cited slower-than-expected low-carbon market development as justification, stating "these targets were established in a different market context." High oil and gas prices from the Iran war meanwhile bolstered current revenue.
Woodside will undertake a strategic review of its Beaumont New Ammonia asset in Texas to cut $350 million in costs by 2028, while maintaining its 2026 production forecast at 174 million to 185 million barrels of oil equivalent.
Shares rose 2.5% in early trade on the Australian stock market, with RBC Capital Markets analyst Gordon Ramsay citing "strong operational reliability across key LNG assets and Sangomar" as evidence of result quality.
Greater investor interest is expected when the flagship Scarbough gas development starts shipping LNG later this year, though restricted supply and price volatility from the Middle East conflict are anticipated to persist.
