Women to get gay-conviction pardons for first time
- Changes to the Disregards and Pardons Scheme mean that anyone convicted or cautioned for historical same-sex activity offences that have been abolished can now apply for their records to be wiped.
- This expansion of the scheme means that more veterans, including female veterans, will be able to apply to erase convictions brought under service law and civilian offences.
- Offences that may have criminalised gay men for behaviour that would not have been a crime if between a man and a woman- such as "solicitation by men"- will now be considered for pardons, but certain conditions must be met.
