Woman shot by husband on Valentine's Day after trying to escape relationship
- On February 14, 43-year-old Lisa Smith was shot twice in the neck by her husband Edward Smith in the parking area of The Three Horseshoes pub located in Knockholt, Kent.
- Earlier that day, Lisa informed her sister of her decision to separate from Edward and took a train from Slough to Kent to stay with relatives, which led Edward to locate her.
- At just before 7pm, Edward blocked Lisa's car with his vehicle and fired four shots, two first from inside his car, then exited and fired more shots through the car window and passenger side.
- The coroner explained that after moving the car forward, he discharged a second bullet, then exited the vehicle with a handgun raised and fired a third shot through the driver's side window, which inflicted fatal neck injuries on Lisa; despite CPR efforts by bystanders and emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead at 19:42.
- Area Coroner Katrina Hepburn concluded Lisa's death as unlawful killing with requisite intent by Edward, who later took his own life by jumping from the Queen Elizabeth II bridge; an inquest will take place.
