Woman arrested over death of girl found in Doncaster pond
Police said ongoing inquiries led to the arrest after initial checks found the circumstances were not suspicious.
- South Yorkshire Police arrested a woman in her 30s on Friday on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter and child neglect in connection with seven-year-old Nyla May Bradshaw's death.
- Nyla, who was autistic and non-verbal, was in a childminder's care on March 30 when she passed through a fence gap and was found unresponsive in a pond at Owston Golf Course.
- Detective Chief Inspector Gary Magnay said initial inquiries indicated non-suspicious circumstances, but "ongoing inquiries" into events leading up to the incident prompted the arrest.
- A memorial fundraiser has collected more than £20,000 to assist the family, as Magnay urged the public to avoid speculation with legal proceedings now active.
- The woman has been bailed pending further investigation as police continue establishing the full circumstances surrounding Nyla's death.
