Moments after the bill passed third reading Friday, Prime Minister Mark Carney pledged to hold meetings in the coming weeks to “launch the implementation of this legislation in the right way.”
Despite the objection of the Liberal government of Mark Carney, Bill C-5 will be divided so that elected officials will first rule on the abolition of the interprovincial barriers that Ottawa controls – a generally consensus-based aspect – and then on the more contentious aspect of accelerating major projects of national interest.
