- This year, Geyser was moved to a group home after conditional release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, where she had been sent in 2018 following a plea deal for a 2014 stabbing.
- The Department of Corrections alerted authorities Saturday night after a monitor malfunction and issued an apprehension request shortly after midnight, but Madison Police Department was notified nearly 12 hours later.
- Officers took Geyser into custody without incident at the truck stop; she initially gave a false name, said she had 'done something really bad' and faces extradition in Cook County Tuesday.
- The 2014 attack was linked to the fictional Slender Man created by Eric Knudson, when Geyser and Anissa Weier lured Payton Leutner and Geyser stabbed her 19 times, though Leutner survived.
