Wings Star Bueckers Out Against Liberty but Not in Concussion Protocol After Hitting Her Head
The reigning Rookie of the Year was ruled out on rest after a late collision left her with soreness, and Dallas said she is not in concussion protocol.
Dallas Wings star guard Paige Bueckers is ruled out for Monday's game against the New York Liberty, while Liberty guard Marine Johannes remains questionable after exiting Saturday's loss to Indiana with a left ankle injury.
Bueckers sustained the injury Sunday during a collision with Los Angeles Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike, causing the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year to hit her head on the court during the fall.
Although Bueckers is not in concussion protocol, the team stated she is dealing with soreness, as Dallas seeks to extend their franchise-record six-game winning streak heading into the contest.
Tonight's game was rescheduled from last Thursday due to mechanical issues with the Liberty's chartered flight, while the team enters the contest having lost eight of their last 10 games.
Dallas faces the Portland Fire on Wednesday in their final game before the All-Star break, though the team stated Bueckers' availability for the remainder of the week remains unknown.
