Long before Almendralejo made his first bottle of cava, the Extremaduran wine was already traveling to Catalonia. Then he did it mainly in bulk, acquired by runners and wineries of a community with greater population and consumption than Extremadura. Decades later, part of the base wine destined for cava continues to find market in Catalonia and the two regions also share another powerful connection, that of cork.
