On Monday, 11-year-old Macey Derheim of Duluth walked across the frozen surface of Lake Superior to climb through the crevices of the ice caves at the Apostle Island National Lakeshore. “It was kinda like something out of a fairytale,” Derheim said of the caves, which opened to visitors Monday for the first time since 2015.
