Will Shipley Injury Update: Latest News on Eagles RB's Status in Week 5 Game
Will Shipley scored his first career touchdown before the Eagles ruled him out with a foot injury and turned to Dameon Pierce.
- The Philadelphia Eagles ruled out running back Will Shipley against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday following a foot injury he sustained after scoring his first career NFL touchdown.
- Shipley, a 2024 fourth-round pick out of Clemson, earned the start because primary running backs Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby were already sidelined with injuries.
- With Shipley sidelined, the Eagles shifted primary running back duties to Dameon Pierce, while Carson Steele serves as backup; both were promoted from the practice squad this week.
- Multiple other players also exited Sunday's game, including edge Jalyx Hunt, guard Tyler Steen, and defensive back Michael Carter, compounding Philadelphia's injury challenges this season.
- From a fantasy football perspective, the fifth-year ball-carrier is unlikely to emerge as a must-add on the waiver wire after Week 5, as he is now sidelined with injury.
