Rookie Will Cleary scored his first MLS goal, leading Charlotte FC to a 3-1 victory over D.C. United. David Schnegg and Pep Biel also scored for Charlotte.
D.C. United remains winless in four straight matches after falling to Charlotte FC. Louis Munteanu opened the scoring in the 55th minute but could not maintain the lead.
Charlotte controlled 61% of possession in a scoreless first half, though D.C. United outshot the hosts 10-4. Goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina made three saves for Charlotte, while Sean Johnson recorded two for D.C. United.
Schnegg equalized in the 64th minute before Cleary headed home a corner in the 66th to give Charlotte a 2-1 lead. Biel capped the scoring in the 77th minute.
Charlotte FC improved to 9-7-5 with the three-goal second-half surge. D.C. United remains winless in four straight matches, seeking to break the streak in upcoming contests.
