WILKES COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) -- The Wilkes Rescue Squad is no longer funded by the county after a unanimous vote by the Wilkes County Commission on Tuesday night, terminating a roughly $250,000 annual contract.  The rescue squad was in breach of their contract with the county, which required that they be ALS certified, which means advanced life support.
