While burn bans have been lifted across much of northwestern Ontario, provincial authorities warn people to remain cautious while crews contend with two dozen fires in the region. Wildfire smoke already a health problem for Northern Ontario
On June 7, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued an air quality warning for northeastern Ontario including Greater Sudbury and vicinity, Espanola and Manitoulin, due to the smoke from wildfires, which can adversely affect health. Wildfire smoke is dangerous because it can be carried thousands of kilometres away from the fire.
