Wike Leads Assembly Members, Council Chairmen, Others To Meet With Fubara
The talks follow an earlier meeting and aim to ease a political crisis that has divided Rivers State, aides said.
On Sunday, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike led a delegation to meet Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt, continuing reconciliation efforts between the political factions.
Barely two weeks after their previous meeting, both camps held new talks aimed at resolving the protracted political crisis that has polarized Rivers State and strained legislative relations.
According to aide Lere Olayinka, Wike's delegation included Rivers State House of Assembly Speaker Martin Amaewhule, 23 local government council chairmen, and All Progressives Congress governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda.
The Rainbow Coalition, a multi-party political group supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election, aims to consolidate support ahead of forthcoming January and February elections.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor, has intensified political engagements across the state ahead of the 2027 elections, following reports that Fubara committed to supporting Tinubu and other coalition candidates.
