Montenegro is once again reporting attacks on Turkish bars after a Turkish and Azerbaijani citizen lightly wounded a 25-year-old man from the capital with a knife during a fight in Podgorica on Sunday.
After an Azerbaijani and a Turk had seriously injured a man, xenophobia escalated in Montenegro. Migrants were threatened, the government introduced visas for Turkish citizens.
During the weekend, dissatisfaction flared up in Montenegro due to the injuries of citizens of Podgorica. A vehicle with Turkish plates was set on fire and a shop owned by a Turkish citizen was destroyed.
On Sunday and Monday, several images and messages of groups calling for hatred against the Turks circulated. This wave of hostility follows a stabbing attack, without vital injury, of a Montenegrin citizen, whose alleged perpetrators are Turkish nationals.
