Pakistan to Receive First US Oil Shipment as Cnergyico Signs Import Deal

PAKISTAN, AUG 01 – Cnergyico plans to import 1 million barrels of US West Texas Intermediate crude oil in October as part of a new trade deal aiming to diversify Pakistan's energy sources.

  • On October 1, 2025, Cnergyico Pk Ltd will import one million barrels of U.S. WTI light crude from Vitol, marking Pakistan’s first U.S. crude cargo, following a trade deal.
  • Earlier this week, Pakistan and the United States signed a trade and energy cooperation deal after President Donald Trump threatened 29% tariffs in April.
  • The West Texas Intermediate light crude cargo will load from Houston later this month and is expected to arrive at Karachi’s port during the second half of October.
  • The import deal will help Pakistan diversify its crude sourcing and reduce reliance on Middle Eastern suppliers, Qureshi added.
  • Looking ahead, Cnergyico plans to install a second offshore terminal and upgrade its refinery over five to six years to support larger shipments and potential monthly imports, Qureshi said.
