"I wasn't afraid of life, and it could just make the relationship with death a decent one," Ion Iliescu answered in the last interview agreed before he got out of life, being asked by Ionius Vulpescu if he was afraid of death.
Ion Iliescu died on August 5, 2025, at the "Prof. Dr. Agrippa Ionescu" Emergency Clinical Hospital in the capital, where he was hospitalized for approximately two months.
"I wasn't afraid of life, and it might just make the relationship with death a decent one. I was still asked this, and I think it's a more alive question as far as my age is concerned. I have lived life with many speeds, age, vocations. No one decides for himself how long he lives. In the rest, the fear of death is equal to the fear of being human. Let us not be afraid of being humans," said Ion Iliescu, former President of Romania.
