007 Race Heats up as Two A-Listers Enter the Running to Play Bond
The search for Daniel Craig’s successor has widened as Amazon MGM Studios aims to finalize casting by December for a 2027 film start.
Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult have emerged as late contenders for the James Bond role after reportedly auditioning in London last month, joining the race to succeed Daniel Craig.
Earlier this week, rumors suggested Callum Turner or Josh O'Connor had already secured the 007 role, though Amazon MGM Studios has declined to comment on casting reports.
Both actors bring extensive franchise experience: Pattinson portrayed Batman while Hoult played Lex Luthor. Pattinson previously collaborated with director Denis Villeneuve on Dune Part Three, positioning him advantageously for the 26th Bond film.
Producer Amy Pascal confirmed the new lead will be announced before year's end, marking the first Bond film under Amazon MGM Studios' creative control since February 2025.
While betting odds recently favored actor Jack Lowden at 4/6, producers emphasize they are being 'really, really methodical' to find a successor who is 'stirring, exciting and different' from Craig.
