White Sands Theater renovation pushes through setbacks

White Sands Theater’s renovation is moving forward despite a contractor allegedly taking a deposit, a second contractor raising costs and stolen copper wiring. Exterior stucco work is expected to finish next month, followed by electrical upgrades, digital projection and air conditioning. Owner Troy Stegner hopes to reopen by 2027 as a modern entertainment center honoring the theater’s Art Deco history.
