This photo shows the Silengo mine about 8 miles south of Craig. This view looks to the north and shows Cedar Mountain in the background. The Silengo mine was operated by the Silengo Brothers from 1940-1970 before being purchased by Empire Mine and operated from 1970-1995 . The mine was near old Highway 13 at the top of Wise Hill before the Highway was rerouted in the early 1970’s.Museum of Northwest Colorado/Courtesy photo
