Many retailers and services in Central Pennsylvania are closing early on Christmas Eve and fully on Christmas Day, with closures affecting banks, libraries, transit, and government offices.
- On Dec. 24, Central Pennsylvania retailers and services announced adjusted hours for the Christmas period from Dec. 24 to Dec. 26, with many closures as Christmas Day 2025 falls on a Thursday.
- Because Christmas Day 2025 is on a Thursday, Lebanon County Library System, Dauphin County Library System, and county governments list multi-day closures from Dec. 24-25.
- Retail chains posted explicit Christmas Eve closing times, with Giant and Wegmans open until 6 p.m., Aldi until 4 p.m., Whole Foods until 7 p.m., Trader Joe's until 5 p.m., and wholesalers like Costco until 5 p.m.
- Several public services will be unavailable over the holiday as the Dauphin County Library System closes Dec. 25, Cumberland County Library System closes Dec. 24–25, and PennDOT Riverfront Office Center, federal government offices, banks, and RabbitTransit suspend services on Dec. 25.
- Residents planning errands should check hours, as the Capital Region and York fixed-route service ends early at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, and liquor stores close by 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.
