"We must protect every square centimeter of our territory," said Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The EU Commission intends to present its new "Roadmap for Defence" on Thursday. The ambitious plan aims to significantly expand Europe's military strength by 2030 – with a focus on air defense, drone defense and electronic warfare. The first parts of the new defence architecture could be operational by the end of 2026, the entire system by the end of 2027. Closer military cooperation and more money for armor are also on the agenda.
