The Istanbul Governorship rejected claims that September 5th was chosen as the date for the Üsküdar Deputy Mayor election to gain a political advantage, stating that this date is the final day of the legal process and that attempts to manipulate the election process are meaningless.

Responding to claims that the date was chosen to give an advantage to a particular political party, the Governorship stated that the summons was issued in accordance with Law No. 5393 on Municipalities.
