What lessons can be learned from incidents on European settlement platforms?

Recent incidents on the settlement platform of the European Central Bank, T2S, and the European real-time gross settlement system, T2, on 27 February last highlighted the vulnerabilities of centralised infrastructures, in particular with a view to the transition to the T+1 Regulation in Europe scheduled for October 2027.
