The German bishops in Fulda are addressing the recent statements of Pope Leo XIV. While this statement has previously been met with much sympathy, disillusionment is now setting in among reform-oriented believers.

At the start of the Bishops' Conference in Fulda, Georg Bätzing sharply criticized Israel's action in the Gaza Strip. "It is contemptible what is happening there," said the Limburg Bishop – and demanded a two-state solution.

The programme of the Autumn Plenary Assembly includes the Pope's recent statements, migration, church reforms and the situation in the Middle East.
