WV to get $199M in 2026 from Rural Healthcare Fund; offsets some annual Medicaid cuts
Gov. Patrick Morrisey on Dec. 29, 2025, announced that West Virginia will receive $199 million for 2026 from the Trump Administration through the Rural Health Transformation Fund to be used to rebuild and modernize health care across the state, according to a news release. But the grant is only about 20% of what is projected to be lost in Medicaid cuts in West Virginia as part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, passed in July.
