West Virginia Defeats Troy 7-5 in College World Series

On Friday, the West Virginia Mountaineers defeated the Troy Trojans 7-5 in their first-ever Men's College World Series appearance, drawing 24,154 fans to Charles Schwab Field in Omaha.
Armani Guzman sparked the Mountaineers early, stealing home in the first inning for his 39th stolen base of the season, breaking the school record as the contest featured multiple lead changes.
In the eighth inning, Tyrus Hall broke a 5-5 tie with a two-run single, while relief pitcher Ian Korn allowed one run across 6.1 innings to steady the Mountaineers' defense.
With the victory, West Virginia advances to the winner's bracket, while the Trojans drop to the elimination bracket where they face a must-win situation to remain in the tournament.
On Sunday, the Mountaineers will face the winner of the Ole Miss and North Carolina matchup at 7 p.m. ET, while Troy plays the loser of that game at 2 p.m. ET.
