The Lombardy Region's Directorate General for Welfare reports that the epidemiological situation regarding West Nile virus (WNV) infections at the regional level is currently in line with previous years' trends. As of August 11, 12 cases of infection have been confirmed among Lombardy residents. Of these, 9 are autochthonous cases, meaning they originated in our region.
Italian authorities have confirmed that the number of deaths from the West Nile virus has risen to 20 after an 83-year-old man died in Caserta on Monday.
