West Ham sack head coach Nuno Espirito Santo
The club said a change was needed after back-to-back defeats left it eighth in the Championship and six points off the leaders.
On Tuesday, West Ham United dismissed Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo with immediate effect, ending his tenure after a poor Championship start.
The Hammers sit 8th in the league after 13 matches with only 6 wins, following Saturday's 3-1 home defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the London Stadium.
Nuno, 52, had been in charge since September 2025 and oversaw the club's relegation from the Premier League last season. Assistant Head Coach Rui Pedro Silva and Goalkeeper Coach Rui Barbosa also departed.
Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of the team ahead of Wednesday's trip to Cardiff City, with recruitment for a new head coach underway.
Despite majority owner Daniel Kretinsky's previous backing of Nuno for the promotion charge, the Board of Directors deemed a change necessary to keep the club's objectives on track.
The club is also left by Deputy Rui Pedro Silva and the goalkeeper coach, Rui Barbosa. The team will be temporarily led by Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville.
