SCOTLAND, JUL 31 – UK Government plans to add 26,100 jobs in Scotland by increasing defence spending to 2.6% of GDP and investing £200 million in low-carbon projects, officials said.
On Friday, the UK Chancellor is scheduled to tour a military base in Moray and a key energy facility in Aberdeenshire to emphasize ongoing investments in Scotland’s defence and energy industries.
This visit followed renewed government efforts to back Scotland with billions in funding, prompted by the sectors’ crucial role in jobs and economic growth amid challenges like the energy profits levy .
The UK Government announced plans to raise defence spending to 2.6% of GDP, aiming to boost Britain's GDP by 0.3% and add 26,100 jobs in Scotland, alongside a £200 million commitment to Aberdeenshire's Acorn carbon capture project.
