Police want to identify two people after woman racially abused and assaulted at Bond Street station

A couple sprayed suspected pepper spray and used racial abuse against a woman and her family during a day out, police said.

  • On Saturday 11 October around 7.30pm a woman was sprayed with suspected pepper spray, racially abused and assaulted at Bond Street Tube station while entering with her sister and two young children.
  • A well-dressed couple were walking ahead when the pushchair collided with the woman, sparking the confrontation; police said the man wore a blue jacket and the woman a black coat.
  • When the victim defended herself, the man produced a small bottle he said was pepper spray and sprayed it toward the family; police investigators said enquiries are ongoing and no ill effects were reported.
  • Detectives released an image seeking witnesses who may assist enquiries and urged anyone recognising them to text British Transport Police on 61016 quoting reference 413 of 12 October or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
  • The woman suspected in the incident shouted further abuse and made lewd gestures at the family before both parties left the area, the force said.
